Love this place before NYTW shows!
Was the best Valentine's dinner; The food was great! The vibe is great! Service is A+. And can't beat the prices! Will recommend to all my seafood lovers. This restaurant has just become my GO TO spot! 💕💕💕 THANK YOU
The $17, 3-course Early Bird Special is a great deal but their a la carte menu is still reasonably priced, with great variety. Service is very friendly. Love this place.
This place has amazing food and excellent service. We have had many family dinners here as well as business dinners and everyone always has a wonderful time and loves the food and atmosphere!!
Quiet spot for a nice date night with high quality seafood and pasta and great wines, all at good prices. The desserts are similarly delicious - highly recommend checking this spot out.
Very good Italian food in a very pleasant romantic setting. Prices are very reasonable. As their name implies their specialty is fish. The bass, salmon, and branzini were very good though the portions were a little small. They were all priced in the low twenties. They have a range of pastas for around $18. And they have the usual Italian chicken dishes for around $17. The salads are good and good value. All in all, you'll have a pleasant dining experience and get great value for your money.
Great service, great food, great value.
We went here for dinner recently and were extremely impressed. We had the early bird special (an incredible deal - a four course meal for 17 dollars with drinks included) and thoroughly enjoyed each dish; especially tasty were the lentil soup and the eggplant Parmesan. The highlight of our meal was our waiter - he was attentive, friendly, and honest - it was probably the best service we have ever had. Highly recommend!
Food very good. Courteous staff.
inexpensive italian, nothing more. perhaps a few changes in their menu might help.
Very beautiful place to eat good food.
Always good
They have a really good early bird special. Salad, soup, meal. So worth it.
The food and long term presence on Ellen Stewart Way
Decent food for CHEAP prices
Perfect portions, very delicious, excellent service
Great food!!! Great service!!! Love the place can't wait to go there again
One of my all-time favorite Italian places -- I've been going for over 25 years! Delicious, well prepared food with great service at reasonable prices in a pleasant atmosphere.
the portions are very small! i got the pumpkin ravioli, which was tasty, but come on, for $10 i expect more than 4 ravioli.
great earlybird prix fixe. good for many off broadway eaters
Great food and reasonably priced. Back room is great for groups.
really great spot, too bad they are going out of business. We've been going there since the 1990s and it's reliably good inexpensive and fun.
Good food and good value. Cheap(ish) wine. Very nice and attentive waiter. There is a beautiful outdoor garden at the back. Be careful for this payment quirk, they ONLY accept cash or AmericanExpress, nothing else.
Pretty good lasagna I had. The prices aren't stupid either.
Absolutely fantastic BOGO happy hour. Delish food. My staple restaurant in the city for 20+ years
Have been a customer for 20 years. Their seafood & pasta is always great ' as is the service. ..and the bar!
Great service and food
cozy East Village spot, awesome high-ceiling room you'd never guess from outside...food decent, especially for prices
An East Village staple, serving classic Italian fare with a seafood twist. We had ordered pappardelle w/ spinach, salmon & cream sauce and it was brilliantly executed. It had good flavor overall, as did the grilled calamari and octopus. Their bruschetta was also flavorful and covered completely each toast in herbs and tomatoes for what amounts to a generous appetizer platter. Love the atmosphere and great service.
I was very disappointed with the food. I had the early bird special and the salad was okay, the soup was great but the pasta had no flavor... at all. I had to ask for extra sauce which made it a little better, but it was still very disappointing
I honestly didn't like it. I went for a birthday even and the server didn't know half of what he was serving. I asked about the wine and all he knew was he had red or white. The food was eh, not authentic Italian. At least it didn't seem that way. Also bread was not provided until we asked for it.
Every dish we had was well made and the wine list is great and very reasonably priced. Cozy space. Great service. super affordable. Will be back soon!
good local cheap italian....good neigborhood restaurant
Reasonably priced Italian food. Wonderful early bird special is the best deal in town. Friendly service and nice ambience, especially in the back room.
Food:- Black linguini with shrimp - 4 jumbo shrimp which were cooked well, it was not overcooked, nor mealy. Light, pink sauce was not too salty and just the right quantity for the pasta.- Chicken Marsala - a bit on the sweeter side. The chicken was pretty tender.- Tiramisu was very good - the lady fingers were not too soggy, and the dish was not too sweet and wasn't overloaded with cream.- Complimentary bean paste and olive oil dip was very good with the bread.Very good service. It was pretty quiet when we went at 8pm in the evening, but there were quite a few people picking up their orders.
serving seafood with a distinctly italian flair, the delightful ambience (fireplace!) is the main draw of this dependandable restaurant
Great for big parties! Big back room with skylight available! Wonderful service, very much enjoyed chatting with the staff, friendliest staff in Manhattan! Cioppino and Chicken Marsala were delicious, don't forget the fresh Parmesan!
Wonderful place for amazing Italian food. Great space in the back for a private event and beautiful garden.
In addition to having a bargain-priced Early Bird special (under $15 for soup, salad, entree & wine or coffee!), the Happy Hour is also noteworthy for its free mussels, and 2-for-1 drinks & apps at the bar. Ask for the Downtown Manhattan. You won't be sorry.
The best branzino around.
Excellent food, service and excellent prices!
Pretty bad italian food for cheap prices. Almost everything about it is off, though at least it isn't overcharging you. Much better options, like Paprika or Porsena are in the neighborhood.
Outstanding seafood choices at prewar prices!
Love food, service and ambiance. Back room is amazing
An Italian cultural edifice of the East Village. Nothing fancy, but a stable of the neighborhood.
This little restaurant have a great food and environment, I like that it can be romantic but also I good place to have a good dinner a conversation with friends
My boyfriend and I went here because we were on our way to see comedy next door at eastville. Started with their home brew... Our opinion, too sweet, a little flat and kinda warm. Not sure how you mess up calamari... But the did: the batter was non existent, we only got rings and the consistency was mushy... Not to mention the sauce was SUPER watered down. We split the pumpkin ravioli and the salmon linguini special with capers, tomatoes and zucchini. The ravioli was interesting... VERY rich and had a pesto sauce which wasn't what we expected but it worked. The salmon special was OK--they diced up the salmon into chunks and put it in the pasta which seemed weird. We will not be going backConsidering there's a million options for food in the city, this place will not rank high on our list.
I've probably walked past this place a million times and just went in this week to try it, and I wish I'd done so earlier! Unpretentious atmosphere with some neighborhood diners, not crowded though. Find of seafood options served in heart portions. I got the cioppino, a stew that was overflowing with seafood, and I loved it. Could've skipped the eggplant appetizer though.
Very calm place, well lit, enough seats for families
